Bennet has served on the program committee of the Second USENIX Workshop on Electronic Commerce, the Fifth ACM Conference on Computer and Communications Security (proceedings), Financial Cryptography 99, ICDCS 99, and NDSS 2000 and NDSS 2001, and USENIX Technical Conference, 2003. Bennet was the program chair of The Third USENIX Workshop on Electronic Commerce.
Bennet received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon Univerisity's School of Computer Science, and his B.S. in Mathematics and B.S. in Computer Engineering from Oregon State University. While working on his Ph.D. thesis, he also worked with the Secure Coprocessor group at IBM Research. Bennet's Ph.D. advisor was Doug Tygar. His Erdös number is 3:
