CSE 190 Sp 2000 -- Lecture 4 -- April 13, 2000


We discussed what happens when a shell runs commands. Examples that we went over were:
$ ls
$ ls | more
and we talked about the exec(2) family of system calls, dup(2) and dup2(3c) (on Solaris dup2 is a library routine), and fork(2).
